About Us

The Mediterranean can be roughly divided into three culinary regions: North African, eastern Mediterranean, and southern European. Wine and herbs are central to Southern European cuisine, while spices intricately and boldly flavor North African foods.

Mediterranean cuisine is characterized by its flexibility, its range of ingredients and its many regional variations. The word Mediterranean in a restaurant’s name or description too often means “Italian,” we are the real deal and our menu is sprinkled with the varied flavors that give meaning to the cuisine.

Chef/Owner Nick Derti is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and worked for Ruth’s Chris steak houses and South City Grille before opening the Mediterranean Bistro in 2003.
